HCA has developed a bespoke digital system to enhance the way that helideck inspections are recorded, reported and managed. The Helideck Inspection and Certification System, named as HiX, went live in late 2024 and is now an integral tool for the HCA team and their worldwide client base, capturing the 250+ inspections conducted annually by HCA Inspectors.
Inspectors conduct assessments using an iPad app, capturing data on-site and uploading it directly into a secure online portal. This replaces traditional paperwork with a digital workflow, giving both inspectors and clients real-time access to inspection progress, findings, and certification documents.
Following consultation with the helicopter operators, and the UK CAA, biennial physical inspections are now supplemented by Interim Assessments that occur in the intervening 12-months. These are conducted online via HiX to ensure that the helideck condition and operations are being maintained to CAP 437 standards. Continuing certification is contingent on the successful submission of the Interim Assessment.
Prior to conducting a helideck inspection, HCA customers will receive an email with a link granting user access to HiX. Helicopter operators who have signed a Memorandum of Understanding also have access.
